Gave (still giving) this to my Mom for her birthday. PERFECT for the person who has everything and really easy. Nice thing is that our event is still open and the word is still getting passed around so the list is getting longer… We followed your advice and gave people a deadline more than a bit before the scheduled end of the ‘event’. It’s been great! The majority of people recorded within 3 days. Now, every few days the message gets out further and someone new adds a message.
We waited a bit after our wedding and honeymoon to listen to our recordings. It was an exciting adventure to hear the night progress through the voices and messages of our favorite people. I found out about this service through a friend, so I used it for my wife’s 50th birthday. It was 100% great. Very clever. It is a very smoothly designed and easy to use service, the web interface makes it easy to keep track and organize recordings, it was great to get emails each time a recording came in and to be able to listen to them immediately via the attached MP3’s, and the podcast-like interface with iTunes ended up being extremely convenient and useful. I have to give special kudos to the customer service: the response was very quick, very friendly, and extremely accommodating to some special requests and situations for my case. And beyond that, the best part was sitting next to my wife as she listened to all the voices of people I was able to find from her life, some she hadn’t heard from in decades. As we listened, she constantly commented on how amazing it was to have these people’s voices recorded and especially to have all those stories recorded. Thank you VERY much. Best. Gift. Ever.
We love our vinyl recordings of our guests. They had a blast at the ceremony using the antique phone to leave their messages, and it was all very user-friendly. Our friend was dying of a brain tumor, and we decided LifeOnRecord would be a perfect birthday present! While many of those who recorded birthday greetings did not know she was dying, per her wishes, they still shared sweet and tender feelings that lifted her spirits for her last two weeks of life. How often do you have so many of your friends' and family's voices captured at once? Perhaps at your funeral, which you never get to experience. My 93-year-old grandma. A childhood friend who knows things about me my partner doesn't know. The dear friend who introduced us at her birthday party at the House of Prime Rib. A message completely in Kiswahili, which neither of us speak. My wife's cousin who spoke about my wife's father, who I never got to meet because he died from MS. It's like a slice of life, a reminder of the color and richness of the characters and relationships that surround us. The marriage is about us, but so much more than us. Our guests all had their own experience at the reception, separate from us. Hallmark should be worried, as LifeonRecord.com is so much better! It not only saves a tree or two, but if you order the compact Speaker option, the recipient always has the greetings at their fingertips to enjoy over and over again. As our population ages, people’s handwriting and vision gets harder and harder to read and hearing someone’s voice is so superior. LoR is simple to use for both the set up as well as the instructions for the users. For my mothers’ 100th birthday, we had 100% compliance. To top it all off, LoR is a family run business and the Customer Service is superior. Wish I had more than 5 Stars to give them.
We absolutely loved listening to our recordings after the wedding. We have a record player, so it made it extra special to listen to them on our own personal record. We thought it was hilarious because the A side has very sweet, sincere, and clear messages, and the B side was recorded once everyone had a couple of drinks in them. So the A side made us cry, and the B side made us cackle! It was also really fun trying to figure out who was talking within the first couple of seconds, which turned it into a little game.
This memento is something we will hold near and dear to us for the rest of our lives. It's also great that we have a digital recording of the messages just in case the record gets beat up over the years. I would recommend LifeOnRecord to everyone. My nephew was younger than 1 when his grandmother died at a young age, suddenly and unexpectedly. The audio guestbook was one of our favorite things about our wedding! My mom actually saw an ad for it and thought it would be perfect for our wedding, especially because my grandfather, who had passed a year before, worked for a telephone company his whole life, so it was a nice way to honor him on our special day.
We had it in a spot where everyone walked by it, so we ended up with so many recordings. It was an old-fashioned-looking phone, so it fit right in with the antique style of our venue on Cape Cod. One of the best parts was that right before my mom and brother walked me down the aisle, my mom picked up the phone and left a very heartfelt message for me and my husband, Chad. I was right next to her but didn't even notice she did it until later when we listened to the recordings. It was so special to us. A few of my bridesmaids also did the same, and I loved everything they said.
We also had the phone placed right next to the open bar, so I'm sure you can imagine how the messages got funnier and funnier as the night went on. We had a few frequent guests throughout the night leaving messages that built off what they had said the time before, so while Chad and I listened, we laughed the whole time. I highly recommend that anyone with a fun group of friends and family gets an audio guestbook for their wedding. We keep our recording machine right in our kitchen, and it's always a great time listening to it and remembering one of the best nights of our lives.
