VidHug / Memento alternative | LifeOnRecord
Bring far-apart voices into one collection
Looking for VidHug? Its website now leads to Memento. If you are exploring an audio alternative, LifeOnRecord brings messages from relatives, friends and colleagues into one listening experience. People can call in or use a supported contribution option that fits their location.
- Collect voice messages through a phone call
- Find stories with searchable transcripts
- Choose the order, share a playlist, keep your downloads

Bring everyone into an audio keepsake
Gather voice messages from the people who matter, even when they cannot be in the same place. With LifeOnRecord, each person can contribute in their own time, and you can bring their voices together in one collection.
Contribute
Leave a message with a phone call
Share your LifeOnRecord dial-in number and invitation number. Callers hear your greeting, then record a message in their own words.
- Use a regular phone call
- Record a story, wish or thank-you
- No camera or video recording needed
Listen and keep
Turn those voices into a personal keepsake
Arrange the messages in My Recordings, find stories with searchable transcripts and share a Playlist Page. Digital downloads are included; a Keepsake Speaker or personalized vinyl record is optional.
- Title and arrange each recording
- Share the playlist and download the audio
- Add an optional Speaker or vinyl record
Gather the group without needing one shared time
A voice collection can take shape while people contribute at different times.
01
Give everyone the same invitation
Share the dial-in and invitation numbers and explain the occasion. For international participants, use the contribution-options page to choose a supported method.
02
Let each person tell their part
Ask callers to introduce themselves and describe a memory. They can call when they are ready, while your account is active.
03
Bring the stories together
Arrange the recordings by family, chapter or the order you want the recipient to hear. Keep separate tracks available for later listening.
The LifeOnRecord experience
The friend across the country can be part of the same gift
A collection does not have to depend on everyone attending the event. Invite absent relatives, former neighbors or colleagues from another chapter of life. The supplied dial-in number is one route; other supported contribution methods can join the same My Recordings account.
- Check the contribution options for international callers
- Use a clear prompt and a date for your group
- Phone rental remains optional for an in-person gathering

Ask a scattered group for connected stories
Use a shared theme to give the collection a thread.
01
How we met
Tell the story of the first time you met. What did you notice?
02
Where we were
Bring us back to a place you shared: a kitchen, classroom, office, trip or neighborhood.
03
What stayed with me
What memory, saying or lesson have you carried into your life today?
Send the playlist across the miles, or give a keepsake in person

What familiar voices meant to two LifeOnRecord families
These are LifeOnRecord customer experiences from birthday gifts. They are not reviews of another service.
“This past month we sat in my parents' living room and listened as friends and family wished my father a happy 80th birthday. It was one of the most touching birthday gifts he has ever received. You all are on to something here, and I intend to share your service with as many people as I can.”
Darcie Carr
“Just gave my Mom her LifeOnRecord for her 80th birthday. It has been the greatest gift I have ever given her. She cried and laughed and was genuinely touched. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to show her how very much she is loved.”

Questions from people searching for VidHug
Practical details for planning a new LifeOnRecord collection.
What happened to VidHug?
The VidHug website currently redirects to Memento. Punchbowl's June 10, 2021 announcement describes acquiring VidHug and launching Memento with VidHug technology as its foundation. For an existing video project or account, use the provider's current support resources.
Does LifeOnRecord create video montages?
No. LifeOnRecord creates audio collections from spoken messages. Contributors can call the supplied number to leave a story or wish, and you can organize, share and download those voice recordings.
Can LifeOnRecord retrieve a VidHug or Memento project?
No. LifeOnRecord does not have access to those accounts or projects. We can provide a new LifeOnRecord collection, not an account migration.
Can people contribute from different countries?
LifeOnRecord offers country-specific calling options where available and other contribution methods. Check the contribution-options page for the current instructions that fit each participant. Do not assume every international call is toll-free.
Do we need to rent a phone?
No. People can contribute using their own phones and the supplied dial-in and invitation numbers. If you want a pick-up-and-record phone at a gathering, rental is an optional $149-$199 addition to the required $99 service, subject to availability for your event.
What happens after people leave a message?
Dial-in and account access begin after sign-up, so you can start inviting contributors. Dial-in messages are available in the portal immediately. Recordings from a rented event phone are added a few days after that phone is returned and processed. Phone rentals and physical keepsakes have separate delivery timelines. Dial-in and rented-phone recordings receive human review and editing, with noise reduction, volume leveling and speech enhancement where useful. Original recordings are preserved. Processing cannot guarantee that every word in a noisy recording will become clear. Uploaded or emailed outside files can join your collection but do not necessarily receive the same editing or noise reduction.
How do we share and keep the result?
Digital downloads are included: individual MP3s, a ZIP of the separate tracks, or one combined MP3. You can also share a Playlist Page and export the written transcripts. A physical keepsake is optional.
How long does account access last?
Account access lasts for one year from sign-up or three months after the event date, whichever is greater. Download your own copies while access is active. After that period, LifeOnRecord archives the recordings rather than deleting them; lifetime archiving is different from ongoing online account access.
